115 Graduate from CCI |
It was all smiles, cheers and laughter at the Hillcrest Apostolic Church Friday afternoon as the Central Collegiate class of 2009 celebrated four years of hard work, good times and friendship.
Principal Scott Williamson opened his speech by telling the 115 graduates what an honour it has been to have spend the last year working with the group. He said: “It only took a couple of days in the fall for me to realize, that this group of Grade 12s was pretty special.”
Co-valedictorians Heidi Geyer and Nebras Warsi started off their speech with a quote attributed to Christopher Columbus: “You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.” Geyer said: “By having the courage to pursue his dream, He found an entire continent — he thought it was India, but the scope of his achievement was unparalleled.”
The two valedictorians went on to offer words of encouragement to their fellow grads as they embark on their own journey.
CCI 100 Co-Chair, Debbie Cowan, was guest speaker.
